Stitcher’s Hideaway

Mystic 2011 Fun Report Continued!

Jeannette and I both received some wonderful gifts - LOL!  I was THOROUGHLY frogged!!  Look at them all!!!

One stitcher, Liz from NY, made frog coasters for us all and sent them to us via one of the attendees!!  Cracked me up!!

Jeannette was also showered with goodies, including the lovely frog eye earrings!

One evening we had a Fall-Themed Ornament Exchange!  This was an optional event but a lot of fun for all!  All participants stitched and gift wrapped a Fall ornament.  Then each participant drew a number, and then picked out a gift according to their number.  They were all so beautiful!!

Denise appropriately dressed for her cat ornament!

We had such a great time and as always it was so sad to see the retreat come to an end.  Some hung out late into the night afterwards, stitching in the comfy hotel lobby.

And now I’ll end this Fun Report with a few words from some attendees and more pics!

See you at the next retreat!

I want to thank you for another great stitching weekend in Mystic. Getting together with other stitchers, leaving behind the responsibilities of everyday home and work, working on a great project with a wonderful designer and teacher and just hanging out with a great bunch of friends: priceless! Thank you for all you do to make our get-togethers so wonderful.

Hi Sue and ladies!
Well I gotta tell you each time I come to a Stitcher's Hideaway retreat I get spoiled and have the best of time. Gosh Sue, you outdo yourself each time! The goodie bags were to die for. Loved the little pumpkin name holders. I have mine by my TV so each time I sit to stitch I see it. It reminds me of all the fun we had. Honestly Sue, do you have a cape hidden on your person? Only a super person could pull off what you have manage to do for us stitchers!
Jeannette's class was Fab!  This is the second fall I have taken a class from Jeannette. What a super person she is. Love her energy and humor, not to mention the class. I signed up as soon as I could for this class, and that was without a pic!! Jeannette --  thank you for such a beautiful piece! I can't wait to add this to my wall.
Chris and Pam you are a stitcher's answer to a prayer when it comes to a shop away from home. I always find something I have wanted in your retreat shop. I also personally want to thank you for having Megan hang out with you. She had a lot of fun working Sue's booth and getting to know you ladies.
The food was great as usual.
I wanted to thank you ladies for making me feel very welcome each time I come to New England for a retreat. I have made some long and lasting friendships that I shall cherish forever. One of the reasons for coming is always to see the friends I know and to meet new ones.
On this trip we saw a lot of places. We naturally went to the seaport, the Old Mystic Village shopping area, as well as the light house museum.  We went to visit the Thistle stitching shop and Sudbury -- believe it or not we didn't buy the place out!!  We drove up the middle of CT to Sturbridge, MA, went to the Old Sturbridge Village, spent a day in Boston, and to Deerfield.  We spent a day in Salem as well -- 4 days before Halloween. Of course we had to dress as witches and take pictures. We did a lot this trip.
Megan, Judy, and I had a lot of fun.  From the bottom of this California girl’s heart a big thank you for your Yankee hospitality.

I have to thank you for your pre-retreat planning & gathering of goods!  The goodie bag was a masterpiece!  I could not believe all the goodies & prizes!
It's hard to join an established & accomplished group, but you made it much easier!  The women I met were so very skilled in counted cross stitch; Joanne's work was amazing!  Donna & Linda sat in front of us & also excelled.
I was so impressed with Jeannette & her teaching skills; another very talented lady.  She also gave us so very much for the retreat money!  Many of your group helped me to adjust to the linen cloth (I equate it to water boarding!). I have returned to my Aida 14 or whatever but with all my newly acquired skills & items from Chris' shop (another ingenious idea!).
The food was great & plentiful.  Helen & I shared my vegetable sandwich for lunch on the way up to Maine from the day before!  Each meal was wonderful.
I want to thank everyone for sharing of your wonderful world.  I enjoyed myself & look forward to another lesson!
Keep stitching, but most of all planning; you're a winner at it!
That, my friend is how life is and now my tale is told.
So, enjoy each day and live it up......before we're too darn OLD!
Life is Good!  Love, Dodie
