Fun Report

The second wave of stitchers attending this Christmas-themed retreat with designer Thea Dueck of Victoria Sampler was no less enthusiastic and fun-loving then those at the Mystic One 2013 retreat! The party continued!!

Everyone dove into their Fun Packs of goodies from designers and companies -- Bush Mountain Stitchery & Framing, Chris’s Collection, DMC, Giulia Punti Antichi, Jeannette Douglas Designs, Kreinik, Lavender Wings, Nordic Needle, Rosewood Manor, Stitcher’s Hideaway, Tempting Tangles, The Prairie Schooler, ThreadworX, Udder Cream, and Victoria Sampler!

We were all so thrilled with Thea’s Mystic Christmas Sampler! We couldn’t wait to dive right into it! Thea was SO helpful.

In addition to learning all the specialty stitches and techniques used in this stunning sampler, we also learned how to finish it as shown in this picture -- using fabric instead of a frame! Many of us are sure to use this finishing technique on many projects in the future.

We learned so much -- from Thea and each other. WE ARE AWESOME!

We also had an optional Christmas-themed stitch exchange at this second retreat. Participants gift wrapped their hand stitching and then each one picked out a gift. There was a lot of creativity not only in the stitching, but in the gift wrap!

I just know you’re all wondering if Santa came to the Mystic Two Retreat, and yes, he did! Much to our delight!

Several members of the EGA (Embroiderer’s Guild of America, Inc.), Southern Maine Chapter Chapter (SOME), attended the retreat and they set up a display of Quaker Balls and Quaker Pears designed by Amaryllis Artworks, which they made available to us for purchase. It was a great opportunity to get these amazing designs!

As at the Mystic ONE 2013 Retreat, each of the attendees at this retreat also received this little keepsake design from me. With our fun-filled Christmas-themed retreat, Thea’s Mystic Christmas Sampler, our visit from Santa....we were all thinking that very soon it would be Christmas Day!

What an amazing time Thea and I had with the wonderful stitchers at both of the retreats. We have many fond memories to cherish!

And now for some very exciting news!! Thea is going to return for another fun-filled Christmas-themed retreat on October 19-20, 2015 -- this time in Sturbridge, MA. She has designed a Christmas Retreat Cottage, another in her unique Gingerbread Series! I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!!
