Word has gotten out about the Annual Stitchers Hideaway Winter Escape and it is very exciting! In order to accommodate the ever-increasing demand, the event has expanded from 2-days to 5-days! Stitchers can choose their 2-day Winter Escape and then add on up to 3 more additional days to make it a Stitchers-Hide-A-Week! WOO HOO!!
Now just imagine hiding away for up to FIVE WHOLE DAYS AND NIGHTS of stitching, shopping and laughing with other stitching addicts!
The retreat is held in the very roomy Historic Publick House Inn in Sturbridge, Massachusetts -- so big that Bush Mountain Stitchery is able to set up shop and provide stash enhancement for us right there in the same room! Our delicious meals are served in an attached room. It’s just so perfect!
What a great opportunity to snuggle in away from the cold with your stitching buddies and stitch, stitch, stitch!! There will be no instructor, no new retreat project, and no set “class” hours -- just crazy stitching fun! Each day we’ll have access to our large stitching room from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. so that we can devote ourselves to our needlework and catch up on our WIPs (Works In Progress). We all love to see each others work so we will have several sessions of Show ‘n Tell of all sorts of crafts! And oh, the door prizes!!
YOU CHOOSE which days you’ll attend! Indicate your choice on the Registration Form. Registration for your two-day (minimum) Winter Escape is $260, and each additional day is $125. A $50 deposit for each day is required with your registration. Payment in full must be received by January 15, 2017. Delicious lunches and dinners each day are included in the registration fee.
Optional Stitching Exchange: We’re also having an optional Stitching Exchange that will take place during the Alumni Winter Escape Retreat! Participants will stitch and finish the item of their choice, which must have something related to the Alumni Retreats -- past or present. It could be something like a small motif from a previous Stitcher’s Hideaway class project, or something about the retreat location -- let your imagine run wild! Your hand stitched object could be finished as a needlebook, ornament, pin cushion, fob, biscornu, framed piece, whatever. Bring it gift wrapped for the exchange.
Shopping: Maeann & Gary of BushMountain Stitchery & Framing will be there for our stash enhancment pleasure all 5 days! And if there is something you need to finish a WIP, you can contact Maeann beforehand so that she’ll have it there at the retreat for you. Poke around on her website and start dreaming!
Lodging: Limited discounted lodging is available at the Publick House Inn, the new Chamberlain House Suites, and the Country Motor Lodge for the nights of February 19-24 of 2017. You can view details about each option on the Publick House website. To reserve a room, call 508-347-3313 before January 21, 2017 and request the Stitcher’s Hideaway Group Rate at the time you make your reservation. Reservations received after January 21, 2017 will be provided on a space available basis at prevailing rates.
- Publick House Inn: 1 queen bed for $119+tax per night.
- Country Motor Lodge: 2 queen beds in each room, $79+tax per night.
- Chamberlain House with 1 king bed, $119 + tax per night.
- Chamberlain House with 2 queens beds, $119+tax per night.
The Chamberlain House is newly renovated and quite lovely! It is right next door to the Publick House and has an elevator.
Please note that you do not have to stay at these lodgings to attend the retreat. Hotel costs are not included in the registration fee so that local stitchers can commute to the retreat if desired.
