DAWN FISHER - DESIGNER / INSTRUCTOR Dawn Fisher starting cross stitching in 1980. She took her first sampler class on linen a few years later and was hooked! Becoming intrigued with the history surrounding samplers, Dawn started purchasing antique samplers, researching the history behind them and finally designing original pieces. Along with designing original pieces, Dawn is continually collecting antique samplers and is always in the process of reproducing them. She is a member of CyberStitchers, an online chapter of Embroiderer’s Guild of America and the Sarasota Chapter of EGA. She is also a member of the Tudor Rose Sampler Guild. Dawn’s teaching experience includes teaching at needlework shops, needlework retreats, sampler guilds, and seminars such as Stitcher’s Hideaway, the Northwest Sampler Guild, EGA Chapters, EGA Regional Seminars, EGA Online Classes, plus many others. Although she loves to travel, Dawn has also expanded her repertoire to teaching online classes and lectures. To increase her knowledge, Dawn has attended many seminars on needlework and its history, including lectures and classes at Colonial Williamsburg, Winterthur, EGA Seminars, and Charleston, SC. Dawn’s love of the history behind samplers means that each sampler design is well researched and often tells a story. During class, students not only learn new stitches they also learn the story and meaning behind the selection of each design element. Sharing these stories has become an important part of the design of Dawn’s teaching pieces. Dawn has also begun sharing her love of needlework and other needlework related subjects on her FlossTube channel: Morning Glory Needleworks – Dawn Fisher. Videos are posted on the 1st and 15th of each month. These videos include showing and chatting about her collection of samplers and needlework tools, plus on the 1st of each month, she shares a Stitch of the Month. Each stitch is discussed and demonstrated during the video. PDF copies of the stitch with diagrams and a sampler to practice them are available in the Stitch of the Month Facebook group. The name Morning Glory Needleworks comes from memories of her Grandparents farm and Grandma’s lovely garden with the beautiful Morning Glories that always grew by the side porch. Dawn currently lives in St. Petersburg, Florida and loves to teach at seminars and retreats around the country.
